November 12, 2025 in New Documents

CCME has posted the Reference Compendium of Recyclability Guidelines for Plastic Products and Packaging and Guidance on the Use of Labels and Terms for Plastic Products and Packaging.

The Reference Compendium of Recyclability Guidelines for Plastic Products and Packaging summarizes, analyzes and compares recyclability guidelines for plastic products and packaging, consolidates guidelines that could support design choices that improve the recovery of plastic products and packaging when those items reach end-of-life, and provides a tool for governments and other actors along the value chain to inform the development of policies and actions that could improve the recyclability of plastic products and packaging.

Guidance on the Use of Labels and Terms for Plastic Products and Packaging provides plain-language descriptions and guidance for the use of common environmental terms Canadians will find on plastic products and packaging labels, as well as guidance for their use by product and packaging designers.

These documents fulfill commitments under the Canada-wide Action Plan on Zero Plastic Waste.
